Food Safety Modernization Act

Foreign Supplier Food Safety Verification Audit

Food safety information provided by foreign suppliers goes unverified and the importer has to blindly trust this information. At times, the questionnaires are not filled correctly and might not even be returned. This can create significant inconsistencies in importer’s food safety program.

 

To help US importer’s, we have setup a Foreign Supplier Food Safety Verification Audit Program to increase the confidence in safety of imported food products and support importer’s efforts on implementing FSMA.

 

The program consists of an audit conducted at the supplier’s location and comprises:

• Understanding supplier’s food safety program thorough a detailed list of questions

• Collection of relevant documents

• Verification of documents and practices

• Interviewing plant personnel

• Verification of compliance guidelines provided by the US Importer

• Announced and surprise audits

• Sampling and verification: Samples from the supplier’s location will be independently analyzed at an accredited laboratory to determine compliance with the importer’s guidelines

 

Deliverables: A compliance report and collected documents will be submitted to the client

 

The audits will be conducted by highly trained auditors and microbiologists. If required, the audit program can accommodate requests from clients.
